About Me

My passion is photography. Lately my wife, Laurel, and I enjoy experimenting with medium and large-format film using our Hasselblad 500c/m and Toyo cameras. I also like adapting older Nikkor AIS lenses to my Fuji X-T2 camera, coupled with a focal reducer to recapture a truer full-frame depth of field and angle of view.

I am Special Projects Director at New Media Campaigns, a web design, development, and marketing agency in Carrboro, North Carolina. I have worked at New Media Campaigns since 2007, and I lead development for many of NMC’s projects.

I am the author of Modern PHP, published by O’Reilly Media. I also founded the Slim Framework, a popular PHP micro framework that enables rapid web application and API development. I began and curate PHP The Right Way, a popular initiative in the PHP community that encourages good practices and disseminates quality information for PHP developers around the world.
